August 2018

Dear Parents and Students,

On behalf of the JAMES DANCE AND PERFORMING ARTS CENTER, its faculty, and staff, we want to take this opportunity to extend a warm WELCOME to each of you.

If you have been with us before, you are familiar with our policies.  A few changes must be made from time to time, and we ask you to take a moment to acquaint yourself with changes shown in the brochure.

If you are a newcomer to the Dance Center, we want you to know that our policies are intended to ensure that every student receives a quality dance and performing arts education, an opportunity to advance, and support. These disciplines are so vital to the success of personal achievement!  Every effort is made to treat each student as an individual and placement in classes is made according to each student’s ability.

We are pleased that you have selected the JAMES DANCE and PERFORMING ARTS CENTER, and we hope you will have a rewarding year participating in the performing arts!!!

Dancingly yours,
Miss Carol and Miss Linda

Faculty Accreditation

Within the faculty accreditation include memberships in Dance Masters of America and Dance Educators of America, both of which require certification testing, college degrees in dance and professional performing experience. The Studio is also affiliated with the American Academy of Ballet in New York City and a participant in their “Performance Awards.”  All faculty members attend on-going education programs, seminars and workshops as a regular part of the teacher’s yearly regimen.

Miss Carol has once again just returned from New York City College at Purchase where she participated in the American Academy of Ballet’s seminar and Miss Linda completed the Dance Educators’ Association Master Classes in New York City and the Competition Team  received ‘Outstanding Participation’ and ‘Platinum’ awards for their participation in Natioal Competitions for the past 17 years in a row.

In 1995, our faculty was recognized by the Ohio’s Governor, George Voinovich, for our efforts, hard work and dedication involved in instructing children in the arts!  The faculty also received a Dance Achievement Award from Showstopper’s Director Debbie Roberts!  Miss Linda received the 2003 National Leadership Award and has accepted an appointment to serve as an Honorary Chairman on the Business Advisor Committee.

Class Room Behavior
Attentive and quiet is expected when the Teacher is giving instruction, as well as respectful attitudes at all times.  When it is necessary to leave the classroom, permission must be asked of the instructor.  Students are not permitted to chew gum or have any food or drinks in the classroom.

Attendance is taken at each class. Good attendance is imperative, as absences and tardiness can hold back an entire class.  Please make every effort to have your child at every class.  “Make-up” lessons are available and should be taken.  These are technique classes and can be made up in either the same level class or below (with approval from your teacher).
